About Graduate Studies

Indiana University of Pennsylvania is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research university with over 2,000 graduate students and 40 graduate programs, including 13 doctoral programs.

IUP holds universitywide regional accreditation through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Individual programs have also earned special accreditation or national recognition

The university is a member of the Council of Graduate Schools, the Northeastern Association of Graduate Schools, and the Pennsylvania Association of Graduate Schools.

IUP has been ranked as an R2 Doctoral University–High Research Activity (R2) by the National Center for Postsecondary Research’s 2021 Carnegie Classification.
