Concert, Presentation by the Slants to Close IUP Free Speech Project Year of Free Speech Programming

Members of the Slants—Simon “Young” Tam and Joe X. Jiang—will be in concert and will offer a presentation at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on May 3 as the final event in the university’s Year of Free Speech programming.

National Constitution Director to Speak at IUP

Jeffrey Rosen, professor of law at the George Washington University Law School and president and CEO of the National Constitution Center, will discuss “Free Speech, the Constitution, and the Public University” at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on April 17.

IUP Hosting Program with Holocaust Survivors and Scholars

IUP will present programs by two Holocaust scholars and two Holocaust survivors on October 16 at IUP’s Eberly College of Business and Information Technology auditorium. The theme of the programs is “Police During the Nazi Era: Why Is It Relevant to Study This Today?”

IUP Year of Free Speech Begins with Six O’Clock Series Program on September 10

“Words: Use Responsibly” will discuss the issue of how college campuses should balance the values of free speech while fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere. The program will include a short video produced for the IUP Free Speech Project, followed by a panel discussion about the tension that can exist between inclusion and free speech.
