The National Weather Service has issued a Cold Weather Advisory in effect from 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 23, through 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 24. Wind chill temperatures are expected to reach -12°F.

In addition, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning in effect from 7:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, through noon Monday, January 26. Indiana and Jefferson Counties are expected to receive 11 to 15 inches of snow during this event.

Looking ahead, average temperatures over the next 10 days are forecast to range from 5°F to 20°F, which could allow for several inches of ice accumulation.

Members of the IUP community are encouraged to take appropriate precautions; winter weather safety reminders are available on the Emergency Management website.

Students are reminded to please keep windows closed in the residence halls to help prevent frozen pipes.

Due to the impending winter storm warnings, Parking Services requests that residential students leave their vehicles in the long-term Robertshaw parking lot this weekend.

Members of the Maintenance and Operations group are working during all shifts to keep sidewalks clear and safe. Please report any icy or snow-covered sidewalks to IUP Facilities at 724-357-2710 or Campus Police at 724-357-2141.
