  • The following resources have been developed for prospective and current IUP students to provide information and resources for navigating higher education with a disability.

    • Getting Started with D2A2
      This flowchart is designed to give you an overview of the process of registering a disability with IUP’s Department for Disability Access and Advising (D2A2) in order to access and make use of your accommodations.

      Helpful overview from the US Department of Education about the rights and responsibilities of higher education students with disabilities.

    • University Resources for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders
      It can be difficult to know where to start with disability support at IUP when you are a student on the autism spectrum. This info guide is designed to help you to understand the services and accommodations that are available to you through IUP’s Department for Disability Access and Advising (D2A2) as well as the recommended support program that is offered by the Labyrinth Center for Autism Spectrum Support.

    • D2L (Brightspace) and Web Accessibility Information
      Web accessibility refers to how easily people with disabilities can navigate and interact with websites. IUP’s Instructional Design Services has developed a website with information and resources for how features of D2L (Brightspace Learning Environment), various web browsers, and mobile devices can be adjusted to improve access to the web for individuals with disabilities. 

    • Read&Write Literacy Software
      IUP offers access to Read&Write software, the award-winning literacy support software from Texthelp. Any active IUP student can install and use Read&Write via their IUP Microsoft Office365 account.

    • Ray Coppler Disability Awareness Award
      An IUP award that annually recognizes an IUP faculty, staff, or administrative member for outstanding commitment to enhancing the inclusion and success of IUP’s students with disabilities through exemplary efforts to develop and provide greater accessibility.

    • Career Disability Disclosure for Individuals with Disabilities
      An info guide designed to assist you in determining how, when, and to whom you should disclose your disability during the hiring process and in the workplace.

    • Famous and Notable People with Disabilities
      A list of famous and notable people who have disabilities, including what they are known for, where they went to college and what degrees they hold, and what types of disabilities they have.
