Fall Fest 2019

fall fest 2019Trees are changing colors and dropping their leaves. The wind has a chilly bite. Halloween is just around the corner. IUP students have donned their sweaters, Ugg boots, and pumpkin-spice lattes. Yep, it’s that time of year: Fall!

Instead of going to the pumpkin patch, STATIC is bringing the pumpkin patch to you!

Join STATIC on Sunday, October 20, to celebrate the season at its annual Fall Fest! The event will take place between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. in the HUB Ohio Room. All of the IUP campus community is invited to take part in this free event.

STATIC will offer pumpkin carving, gourd decorating, seasonal crafts, pumpkin bowling, fall photo booth, jack o’ lantern darts, hayrides, traditional fall desserts and beverages, like pumpkin and apple rolls, cakes, cookies, and pies with hot apple cider, pumpkin coffees, and chai teas, and more!

Did we mention that this is all completely free?

Netflix & Chill: “Us”

Live on the big screen in the HUB Ohio Room, join STATIC as we present a Netflix & Chill Movie Night with Us, on Thursday, October 24, at 7:00 p.m. We’ll supply the movie, popcorn, candy, and drinks, as well as a sweet haunted house and some other spooky activities beforehand. You just bring your PJs, blankets, and some pillows.

In Us, which is director Jordan Peele’s next hit horror flick, “Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong'o), accompanied by her husband, son, and daughter, returns to the beachfront home where she grew up as a child. Haunted by a traumatic experience from the past, Adelaide grows increasingly concerned that something bad is going to happen. Her worst fears soon become a reality when four masked strangers descend upon the house, forcing the Wilsons into a fight for survival. When the masks come off, the family is horrified to learn that each attacker takes the appearance of one of them.”

Trip to Kennywood Phantom Fright Nights

kennywood fright nights trip 2019As the leaves turn and the days shorten, a darkness begins to fall over Kennywood. The forces that power one of the world’s fiercest coasters, The Phantom’s Revenge, grow stronger. As Halloween nears, he cannot be denied: Phantom Fright Nights returns for its 18th year of frights.

Join STATIC as we present our annual Trip to Kennywood's Phantom Fright Nights on Friday, October 25! The buses will depart from the HUB Parking Lot at 5:00 p.m. sharp, and will leave the park at 12:00 a.m.

Tickets are $20, and limited to one per person and may only be purchased by an individual with an active I-Card who paid the activity fee. Students must purchase their tickets in person at the KCAC Box Office. The ticket includes busing to and from the park and one full park admission.

Ticket purchasers must ride the bus to and from the park - no exceptions! Tickets are not transferable or refundable.

Join STATIC as we host our IUP version of the hit game show, Let’s Make A Deal, on Wednesday, October 30, at 7:00 p.m., in the HUB Ohio Room! You and your IUP ‘traders’ could get a chance to compete against our very own host for CASH and PRIZES!

Want you and your trader friends to compete? Register here! Can’t register online? Don’t worry. Students can register on-site at the event. Groups are not required to play!

Please note that only active, Icard-holding students can participate in Let’s Make A Deal, and that all participants must be 18 years old or older.

Winter Break Buses 2019Winter Break bus tickets will be available to IUP students on Monday, November 11, at the KCAC Box Office. Sponsored by the Student Cooperative Association and STATIC, break buses will again travel to Harrisburg, Allentown, King of Prussia, and Philadelphia. The cost is $90 to $95, depending on the student’s final destination.

Buses will depart from the HUB Parking Lot, near the HUB Fitness Center entrance, on either Friday, December 13, at 3:00 p.m., or Saturday, December 14, at 11:00 a.m. Buses will return to IUP on Sunday, January 19, at the times indicated on the individual bus information sheets.

Tickets go on sale on Monday, November 11, at 10:00 a.m. and are available in person at the KCAC Box Office until Wednesday, December 11, or until all tickets are sold. Students should purchase their tickets early, since break bus tickets usually sell out!

Live on the big screen in the HUB Ohio Room, join STATIC as we present a Netflix and Chill Movie Night with Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King (2019) on Thursday, November 14, at 7:00 p.m. We’ll supply the movie, popcorn, candy, drinks, and nostalgia. You just bring your PJs, blankets, and some pillows.

In The Lion King (2019), “Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny on the plains of Africa. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub's arrival.
