Join the IUP Career and Professional Development Center on Tuesday, April 11, at 6:00 p.m. in Room 225 Jane E. Leonard Hall for the final installment of this spring’s Career Ready Seminar Series, "Leading with an Inclusive Mindset."

Leading with an inclusive mindset is a critical part of being successful in today’s workforce. Join us for an interactive session with IUP alumnus Je’Mone Smith—a former professional football player with the Philadelphia Eagles, who has a bachelor of arts degree in criminology/pre-law and a master of arts degree in labor relations from IUP. During this program, Je’Mone will talk not only about diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, but he will also dive into topics such as how teamwork makes the dream work and the ways to communicate effectively in a complex world.

The Career Ready Seminar Series is inspired by the National Association of Colleges and Employers career competencies. This type of intentional programming aims to provide targeted programming to help IUP students gain and understand the necessary skills and competencies to be successful as they transition from higher education into the professional world.

Topics vary each semester and, in many cases, involve employer sponsors.

Kelsey Thompson, associate director of the IUP Career and Professional Development Center, who oversees this program series, stated, “I was really excited to have another semester of interesting topics and some outstanding guest presenters. Je’Mone is not only an IUP alumnus but an accomplished professional and speaker. I think students are really going to enjoy hearing his message and how they can apply it to their lives now and as young professionals.”

Thompson went on to say, “Our Career Ready Seminar Series is something that has continued to evolve since it first began in 2018, and I know I personally look forward to delivering topics each semester that I’m confident students will benefit from hearing more about. This workshop is no exception, since we are all acutely aware that diversity, equity, and inclusion skills are some of the top skills employers look for when making hiring decisions.  I’m looking forward to wrapping up the spring with Je’Mone on campus and getting the chance to engage with students on this important topic.”
