The Asian Studies program offers two scholarships for our majors. Our students have also won major outside scholarships, including the Fullbright, Boren, Gillman, Freeman-Asia, Zhu-Xing, and MEXT-Japan.

Study Abroad Scholarship

The Asian Studies program offers a scholarship for Study Abroad. This is a grant of $1,000 or more for study abroad. This could be used for summer study abroad, or study for a semester or a full academic year. It is open to Asian Studies majors with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

This can be used for any study abroad experience, and students have used it to study in Korea, Japan, and China. You can read about some of their experiences. Other funding is also sometimes available for these opportunities.

Summer Language Scholarship

The Asian Studies program offers a scholarship for summer language study. This scholarship offers a grant of $500 or more towards a summer Asian language program overseas or in the US for any level of language study. It is open to Asian Studies majors with a 3.0 GPA or higher.

This scholarship can be used for language study in Asia. Students also use the scholarship to defray the costs of intensive language study programs in the US, including the Beloit Center for Language Studies and Middlebury Language Schools. Other funding is also sometimes available for these opportunities.
