Matt used the scholarship towards studying in Japan and said:
“I am very grateful for receiving the Asian Summer language scholarship. With it I was able to study in Miyazaki, Japan for three weeks in summer 2015. During that time I made many new friends and my Japanese language skill improved significantly. It was amazing to be in another country that's so far
away from my own with different customs, food, and language. I have always studied Japanese culture, but actually going there allowed me to learn so much more. I was able to see life in rural Japan and life in cities as well. This was an amazing experience that I
will always remember.”
