The residency may be initiated by a teacher, an administrator, a community organization, a directory artist, or other party.
The host site then submits a simple one-page request for a residency to ArtsPath. After a residency request is approved, the host site coordinator will meet with the artist and ArtsPath to develop activities and goals for the residency.
Residency requests will be available each year by April, with funding approvals pending state budget appropriations to the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and receipt of the activities and goals for the residency. Requests should be made by June of each year, but will be accepted until funding is exhausted. Funding is approved on a first-come, first-served basis, with residency requests of 20 days or more receiving first consideration.
Once approved, and in order to receive PCA/ArtsPath funding for an artist residency, the host coordinator must complete the application form in full collaboration with the AIE Directory artist. Decisions on funding will be determined no later than August 15 and are pending final budget allocations from the PCA. Applications received after May 15 will be reviewed with decisions made within four weeks from receipt, pending availability of funds and on a first-come, first-served basis, provided all qualifications are met.
Prior to submitting the application, you must secure your portion of the funding in accordance with the
funding guidelines. The host site is responsible for providing any necessary supplies required for the residency, with some flexibility for partial funding from ArtsPath and as outlined in the guidelines. If the application is approved and a plan is developed, the host site may apply to ArtsPath for available funding, with ArtsPath/PCA covering a portion of the artist-related fees and all of the residency-related administrative fees.
