IUP Dean Honored as American Theatre Fellow

Michael Hood, dean of IUP’s College of Fine Arts, has been honored by the College of Fellows of the American Theatre as an American Theatre Fellow. He will hold this recognition for a lifetime. He was inducted at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on April 19, 2015.

McHugh Selected for IUP’s Distinguished University Professor Honor

Maureen McHugh has been selected as IUP’s 2015–16 Distinguished University Professor. A professor of psychology, McHugh is known nationally for her work in gender and diversity and in the field of violence against women.

Four IUP Faculty Members Honored with University Senate Distinguished Faculty Awards

Each year, the University Senate invites students, administrators, and the faculty and staff to nominate faculty members for the University Senate Distinguished Faculty Awards, and the Senate’s Awards Committee determines the winners. Award recipients are recognized at the May commencement ceremony.

IUP Spring 2015 Commencement Overview

Commencement ceremonies will be held May 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex for more than 1,889 graduates. Both ceremonies feature keynote speaker, Dr. Donald Mash, a 1964 graduate, and a student speaker.

Partnership the Principal Theme of Hotel Groundbreaking Ceremony

Developers of the project stressed the strong partnership and great cooperation of IUP and the community to bring the hotel project to fruition. President Driscoll commented that the hotel will help to solidify the Kovalchick Complex as a destination for visitors, as well as enhance the Wayne Avenue Corridor project and be a spark for future development.

IUP Delays Per-Credit Tuition Pilot in Face of Governor’s Proposed Budget and State System Board of Governors’ Action

Indiana University of Pennsylvania has opted to defer for one year its previously announced per-credit tuition pilot.

Hilton Garden Inn at IUP Moving Forward

Construction of a Hilton Garden Inn adjacent to IUP’s Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex will begin this spring. The ceremonial groundbreaking for this six-story upscale lodging facility will take place April 29, 2015.
