Funding Opportunities for Graduate Students

Funding is available to graduate students through a variety of sources, both within IUP and externally. This workshop will provide a demonstration of internet databases through which IUP students can research funding resources.

What is Plagiarism and How Do I Avoid It?

This workshop will focus on the different types of plagiarism that are often found in theses and dissertations and how students can avoid these problems. Areas of focus will include self-plagiarism, paraphrasing versus quoting, and proper in-text citations/references.

The workshop is given by Alexi Lykissas and Justin Nicholes, School of Graduate Studies and Research graduate assistants who review theses and dissertations for formatting and plagiarism issues. Please e-mail Alexi (rqft@iup.edu)or Justin (j.nicholes@iup.edu) for more information.

Prefer to join us online?

The workshop will be held Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 7:00–8:00 p.m. in the Blackboard Collaborate Online Meeting Room. How do you access the Blackboard Collaborate Online Meeting Room? See details. If you attend the online session, please plan to log-in by at least 5:45 p.m. This will help us troubleshoot any technical issues that might arise.

University Graduate Curriculum Information Meeting: Friday, September 20

The University-Wide Graduate Committee (UWGC) will host an informational meeting to explain the new curriculum process based on the recently revised graduate curriculum handbook, which was approved by the Senate in April 2013.

Members of the UWGC will provide a synopsis of the new manual along with an idea of what the committee looks for in each proposal type. We will also answer any questions you may have. Anyone who is involved in developing or reviewing graduate curriculum is invited and encouraged to attend.

The meeting will take place on Friday, September 20 at 1:30 in Stabley 201. Please RSVP to Shari Robertson (srobert@iup.edu).
