Subscriptions Available for 2010–2011 Lively Arts Series

2010-2011 Season BrochureThe Lively Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania is now offering subscriptions for its various 2010–2011 performance series. With six regular subscription options, plus the customizable Flex Pak, subscribers can save up to 20 percent off single-ticket prices.

The first subscription event is scheduled for Sunday, September 12, 2010, with the premiere of the Litton String Quartet performing on the Sound Choices series. This series of five performances highlights the best performances from the IUP Department of Music, including faculty, students, alumni, and honored guests. The Litton is IUP’s new faculty string quartet in-residence. Those subscribing to any event in the Sound Choices season will also receive vouchers good for the two other concerts of the Litton String Quartet's inaugural season.

Other concerts in this series includes the return of the popular Band in Review, featuring the IUP Marching Band, a concert performed by IUP voice and brass faculty, and more.

Adrienne DanrichThe Performance Plus series includes six of the finest touring performers from across the globe, including “I, Too, Sing the Weary Blues,” an original collection of music sung by soprano Adrienne Danrich, centered around the works of Langston Hughes.

Sol y CantoPerformance Plus also includes the critically acclaimed Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Thomas Hong; Evidence, one of the world’s leading contemporary dance companies; Pig Iron Theatre Company performing Chekhov Lizardbrain; Ben Munisteri Dance Projects in a world-preview performance of an original work; and Sol y Canto, a Pan-Latin salsa sextet based in Boston.

Crimes of the HeartTheater-by-the-Grove and Dance Theater subscribers receive tickets to six events, including two special dance concerts; the Pulitzer Prize-winning Crimes of the Heart; Arthur Miller’s The Crucible; Irving Berlin’s White Christmas; and Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors. Music Theater subscribers will also be treated to Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Grand Jury. 

A variety of combination packages are available for subscription events, including Totally Theater, which combines all theater, dance, and music theater events, and Totally Everything, which offers 20 percent off the single-ticket price for all nineteen events. Subscribers can also build their own subscription with the Flex Pak by choosing at least five events from any of the nineteen for the season. Subscribers following The Lively Arts on Facebook and Twitter can save up to $4 more off their order.

The Lively Arts is the umbrella for all performing and visual arts events presented by the IUP College of Fine Arts and its departments of Music, Art, and Theater and Dance. In addition to these subscription events, it offers the campus and area community nearly two hundred visual and performing arts events annually.
