The Penn State Electro-Optics Center once again partnered with IUP at Northpointe to offer two exciting and educational summer camps.
Middle school students interested in math and science attended IUP at Northpointe to test their robotics skills during the camp. Both camps filled with twenty-five students each week who were challenged with building a four-wheeled, workable VEX robot equipped with motors, sensors, and microprocessors from scratch.
The students teamed up to construct, program, and successfully manipulate a Mine Field Challenge by disarming mines (plastic balls) and disposing of them into a safe zone using a remote control and then autonomously.
The camp ended with a dinner for students and their parents on Friday evening. Students received certificates and prizes for their accomplishments.
