The Fairman Centre community was recognized as the National Community of the Month (OTM) winner for April 2010 by the National Residence Hall Honorary.

The Fairman Centre community consists of one graduate assistant and twenty culinary residents who live on the third floor of the Fairman Centre.

The OTM program is a program within the residence halls to recognize outstanding individuals, areas, and programs. If an OTM nomination receives campus recognition, it is forwarded on for regional recognition, and then for national recognition if recognized regionally. The Fairman Centre community has received all three levels of recognition for an OTM in the month of April for Community.

The Fairman Centre is home to the Baking and Pastry Arts program at the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts. The renovated historic building features two culinary teaching kitchens specially designed for baking and pastry and advanced garde manger instruction.

The National Residence Hall Honorary is the only nationwide organization that exclusively recognizes leaders in residence halls. It is considered the recognition branch of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls.
