Graduate students in the Food and Nutrition Department’s dietetics internship program and faculty member Dr. Rita Johnson will conclude a semester-long project with Renda Broadcasting on Tuesday, April 13, 2010.

Denny Bondra will talk with Indiana in the Morning radio show host Todd Marino at 7:45 a.m. on WDAD radio, 1450 AM, about the sixteenth annual Community Nutrition Food Drive. This is the final in a series of seven radio segments on food and nutrition throughout the semester.

Sponsored by the Department of Food and Nutrition, the food drive will be April 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Following the theme “Neighbors Helping Neighbors,” the event benefits the Indiana County Community Action Program. In the past fifteen years, more than 249,000 pounds of food have been donated or purchased.

Students will collect nonperishable food items, personal care items, and monetary donations at eight locations:

  • Giant Eagle
  • Fourth Street BiLo
  • Wal-Mart
  • Indiana Mall community booth
