As part of the IUP Film Series—Short Shots and Fresh Frames—the film In Service will be presented on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, in McVitty Auditorium, Sprowls Hall, at 6:30 p.m. The filmmaker, Ralph Vituccio, will be present to discuss the film. Admission is free.
In Service presents the experiences of Western Pennsylvanians serving in Iraq as soldiers and government officials, and of those recording events as journalists. The film weaves first-hand video recordings, interviews, and still photography as individuals from the region recount their tales unfolding on an international stage. At the foreground are authentic voices, images, and narratives. The tales coalesce as a cohesive narrative of how world events affect local communities and touch the lives of those just down the street from ourselves.
To facilitate class credit, attendance vouchers will be available following the film.
