E-audiobooks Now Available Through IUP Libraries

IUP Libraries is offering a new service from NetLibrary-e-audiobooks! Log into NetLibrary from any computer on campus and you can listen to one of over five hundred e-audiobooks.

You must create a free account while on campus, but then you can access NetLibrary. View and listen to both e-books and e-audiobooks from any Internet-accessible computer.

Here is a link to FAQs for users.

The current NetLibrary e-Audio collection stands at 595 titles that include fiction and nonfiction, classics, and current authors. Delivery can be through a computer, desktop or laptop, or a hand-held device. The book is downloaded for twenty-one days and can be renewed.

There is no limit on simultaneous users so many can download the same title at the same time.

NetLibrary e-Audiobooks provide for multitasking: one could listen to a book while jogging or while commuting to a conference. With the hand-held devices, now including the iPod for certain titles, listeners are freed from the computer and can listen almost anywhere. There are a limited number of listening devices that can be checked out at the Media Circulation Desk.

This new service is brought to campus through an ACPAC Technological Exploration and Innovation Grant awarded to Theresa McDevitt and Joann Janosko this past spring. Feedback on the service is appreciated.
