The Center for Teaching Excellence is offering the StrengthsQuest seminar by Dr. Chris Xaver on Saturday, October 24, 2009, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in Breezedale.
Discover your innate talents in this StrengthsQuest seminar! Dr. Chris Xaver, professor and program chair of Communications and Media Arts from Dryden, New York, will lead each participant to an understanding of his or her greatest natural talents. She will also identify specific ways you can utilize your talents in teaching, mentoring, service, and/or scholarship. StrengthsQuest, a professional development program to enhance teaching effectiveness, is offered by the Gallup Organization, best known for the Gallup Poll.
One week prior to this seminar, each registrant will receive, free of charge, a code to access the StrengthsFinder assessment. You need to complete this on-line assessment and bring the results—a list of your top five signature strengths—to the seminar. In this dynamic seminar, Dr. Xaver will then provide an interpretation of the various strengths and talents, explaining how they impact upon your work at IUP. It’s fun and very interesting to identify your innate talents through StrengthsQuest, and the program is growing in popularity on campuses across the country.
Lunch will be provided.
In order to provide each participant with an access code for the StrengthsFinder Assessment and to allow sufficient time for you to complete the assessment before this free seminar, advance registration is required. The registration deadline is October 12, 2009. To register, contact Sharon Aikins (firstname.lastname@example.org).
