The Penn State Electro-Optics Center and IUP at Northpointe are finishing the second of two week-long camps exposing seventh, eighth, and ninth graders to robotics.
Forty-three energetic and excited students took part in these camps. Participants started by building Vex robots and running them via remote controls. Next, participants utilized programming code to navigate autonomously the obstacle course. Lastly, participants programmed the robots to independently navigate to particular objects, pick them up, and transfer them to a specific location (this is analogous to real robots locating and disarming explosive devices).
