Tell Us What’s Cool about the Library Video Contest

Students are spending more time than ever in the library: reading books, watching videos, doing research, using computers, studying with friends, working on projects—the list is endless!

This National Library Week, we want to know what you think is cool about IUP Libraries. Create a video documenting what you like about IUP Libraries and enter our “What’s Cool about the Library Video Contest.”


  • First Place: $150 IUP Co-Op Bookstore Gift Certificate
  • Second Place: $50 IUP Co-Op Bookstore Gift Certificate
  • Two Honorable Mentions: $25 Co-Op Bookstore Gift Certificate (Courtesy of IUP Co-Op Bookstore

To Enter

  • Upload a one- to three-minute original video which documents what is cool about IUP Libraries to YouTube and e-mail the link to Theresa McDevitt ( with the subject line “What’s Cool about the Library Video Entry.” (Instructions on how to upload a video to YouTube.)
  • A complete entry must include a signed release form.

Film Submission Deadline

  • Deadline extended to Thursday, April 16, 2009, 11:00 a.m.

Selection of the Winner

  • The winning entry will be chosen by a panel of judges using a predetermined rubric.
  • Winner will be announced on April 17, 2009.

Contest Rules

  • Create a video that shows what you think is cool about IUP Libraries. The video must be:
    • produced entirely by IUP students
    • about IUP Libraries
    • between one and three minutes in length
    • uploaded to YouTube
    • original
    • not in violation of copyright law or IUP Student Code of Conduct.
  • Be sure to get permission of all the people who appear in the video. Also, since some people think a place where you can study quietly is something cool about the library, please do not disturb other library users while you are making your video.
