Soprano Mary Logan Hastings, a member of IUP’s music faculty, and her daughter, soprano Dora Logan Hastings, will present a concert on Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. in IUP’s Gorell Recital Hall.
Gorell is on the second floor of IUP’s Sutton Hall. The concert is free and open to the community.
The two will present works by Mozart, Schubert, Straub and Bruch and will be accompanied by Jan Halmes on piano and David Martynuik on clarinet. Other performers include IUP faculty members Linda Jennings, Therese Wacker, Stephanie Caulder and Jason Worzbyt.
Mary Logan Hastings has an extensive professional career in opera in both America and Europe.
Her solo concert work includes appearances with the Berliner Philharmonische. In addition to her European career, she has performed recitals and given master classes in the theaters and music conservatories in China.
Dora Logan Hastings is a graduate of IUP and recently completed her second season with The Seagle Music Colony in Schroon Lake, N.Y. She also performed with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro Opera Theatre.
Halmes has been an accompanist since the age of 12 and has studied at University of Montana and in Vienna. She also has traveled and performed extensively in Europe and China as an accompanist for choral groups and soloists. She has recorded with Mary Logan Hastings, performing songs of Austrian composer Alexander Zemlinsky.
