The IUP Libraries invites you to view a special exhibition being held in the Libraries this summer and throughout the fall semester titled, “Print Matters: Selected Works from the Ed Colker Collection,” featuring limited-edition folios and hand-pressed lithographs created by printmaker and artist Ed Colker and the Haybarn Press.
The exhibit is open July 14–December 15, featuring artwork on the library first and third floors, a free exhibit catalog, and an online video interview with Ed Colker.
A Pennsylvania native and World War Two veteran, Colker has collaborated with artists, authors, poets, and translators for more than 60 years—and their works transcend time. Important themes are reflected throughout their collaborations, including cultural and religious intolerance, the Holocaust, warfare, terrorism, genocide, women’s equality, and the Civil Rights movement honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Colker’s limited-edition folios are printed in editions of less than 150 copies and are a unique combination of original art and poetry from diverse points of view.
The IUP Libraries’ Special Collections has one of the largest collections of Ed Colker works in Pennsylvania. The exhibit was curated by Harrison Wick, the IUP Special Collections librarian and university archivist. Funding was provided by a University Senate Fellowship Grant. This exhibit was made possible through the support of the IUP Libraries, the University Museum, the College of Fine Arts, and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. A special thank you for this exhibit goes to Michael Williamson and Marquel Sherry.
