Recruiters from more than 60 organizations and graduate school programs will be attending the IUP Career Expo and Graduate School Fair in a virtual format through Handshake on Wednesday, September 30, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The event is sponsored by the Career and Professional Development Center and organized by Jan Shellenbarger, Special Events coordinator, and Kevin Fleck, assistant director for Employer Engagement.

“This event gives students and alumni the opportunity to explore employment and graduate school options,” Shellenbarger said. “We have a wide variety of companies and university representatives attending the fair from areas such as banking, healthcare, industry, and social services.”

In addition to several IUP graduate programs, the event also will include graduate program recruiters from throughout the United States, including California, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and South Carolina.

“The Career Expo and Graduate School Fair provides students with an opportunity to explore employers and career opportunities that they may have never thought about,” Shellenbarger said. “Participating also provides students with an opportunity for face-to-face contact with recruiters and a chance to polish their networking skills.”

“To participate, students log in to their Handshake account using their IUP SSO password at iup.joinhandshake.com,” said Fleck. “We strongly encourage students to complete their profiles."

“Once you are logged in, you can find to the Career Expo by navigating to the events section and clicking on Virtual Fairs to narrow the selections. You can also choose to only view events hosted by your school,” he said. “Once you have registered for the Expo, you can sign up for 1:1 and group sessions with our wide selection of employers. The 1:1 sessions are 10 minutes, and group sessions are 30 minutes where multiple students can sign up at a time. The fair uses a video format, so be sure to allow the system to access your microphone and camera and that you are professionally dressed.”

Fleck continued, “If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the CPDC, and we will be happy to help.”
