Care Program for Successful Transition to Adulthood Grant
Applications are now available for the 2020–21 Chafee Grant. This federally funded program offers grants to Pennsylvania students who are
aging out of foster care and plan to attend an eligible post-secondary
institution. The application deadline is December 31, 2020. The

Fostering Independence
Tuition Waiver Program
For the 2020–21 academic year, the Pennsylvania departments of
Education, Human Services, and Labor and Industry have partnered with PHEAA to
offer the Fostering Independence Tuition Waiver Program. This program offers tuition waivers at post-secondary institutions,
like IUP, for eligible youth who are or have been in foster care,
establish eligibility for services under the Chafee program, and meet the
additional criteria identified here.
Other than the 2020–21 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and
Chafee ETG application, no other documents are required to apply for this new
tuition waiver program.
