Message to Students, March 19, from VP Segar

Dear IUP Students,

Many of you may have heard Governor Wolf’s announcement this evening about mandatory closure of “non-life-sustaining businesses.”

I want to reassure you that this will NOT affect IUP’s current operations. The university is open, and we are prepared to continue our ongoing work to keep you safe and healthy while completing your coursework for this semester.

The following will continue as planned:

  • Residence hall move-out will continue as scheduled;
  • Dining operations will continue as scheduled for those students remaining on campus;
  • Online classes will continue as scheduled;
  • Faculty are continuing work to transition face-to-face classes to online coursework, which will begin on Monday, March 23, as scheduled;
  • The Health Services office remains open; and
  • The Counseling Center will continue providing remote services.

 There is a great deal of information out there, and that can be confusing and overwhelming. Please continue to monitor your IUP email and check the IUP website for official information and updates.

We are here for you. Please reach out to us, to your faculty members, and to others you know and trust in the university community. We will make it through this challenging situation together.

Respectfully,

Dr. Segar
