University of Pennsylvania’s “Life Without Drugs” team and their #ProtectYourBrain campaign sponsored the IUP women’s
and men’s basketball games on February 29th and March 4th.
Without Drugs,” which recently partnered with Ann Sesti, Director of IUP’s
Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs Program and peer educators from the Center of
Health and Well Being, has been promoting the campaign, “#ProtectYourBrain.”
The team is communicating the impact of constant exposure to mood-altering and mind-altering chemicals, like drugs and alcohol, and more specifically opioids, such
as heroin, fentanyl, and prescription pain medications.
To familiarize IUP’s students with
the campaign and its purpose, the campaign team set up an informational table
in the upper section of the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
Students and other attendees had their pictures taken with a sign that
displayed the hashtag, #ProtectYourBrain, and they were encouraged to tag the
campaign’s social media accounts. Candy with bracelets attached to it and hats
embroidered with #ProtectYourBrain were
thrown into the crowd by cheerleaders at both games. A mini-basketball game set up at the information table were all part of the
activities that promoted the “Life Without Drugs” campaign.
