The coronavius COVID-19 causes an illness that ranges from mild to severe. The symptoms can include a fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. There is no vaccine to prevent the disease. It is crucial that you take every day preventative actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including:

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze into a tissue, then throw the tissue into the trash.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom, before eating, after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces, including cell phones and keyboards, with a regular household cleaner.
  • CDC does not recommend wearing a face mask if you are feeling well.
  • Facemasks should be used by people who are having respiratory symptoms to prevent the spread of disease.
  • Healthcare workers and people taking care of anyone that is ill should wear facemasks.
