The IUP Libraries and the Lively Arts are teaming up for their second noontime
Q&A/Demo of the year by presenting the Swingles from noon to 1:00
p.m. next Tuesday, December 10, in the Commons of Stapleton Library,
next to Java City. If you like the a cappella groups Pentatonix
and Straight No Chaser, you wont want to miss meeting and hearing the Swingles
in advance of their 8:00 p.m. performance that evening in Gorell Recital Hall.
This is a great opportunity for anyone in the IUP community or region to meet the seven vocalists that make up this London-based and five-time Grammy award-winning group, ask them questions, and hear them give a mini-preview of their evening performance. Vouchers for reduced price tickets to the evening concert will be available for those in attendance.
The unmistakable sound of the Swingles has long been associated with
Christmas, and audiences can look forward to music from five decades of
holiday releases, including their 2015 album Yule Songs Vol. II.
Alongside these seasonal favorites, the “Winter Tales” program
includes select pieces from the group’s year-round touring
At a time when a cappella music is more
popular than ever, the Swingles are recognized as masters of their
craft, so bring your lunch and join the Library and Lively Arts in a fun hour of music and talking with the members of this internationally renowned group.
