Leda graduated from IUP in 1995 with a double major in finance and accounting. He later received his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. His education has also led him to continue learning through an International Business Program with the Stockholm School of Economics, and Leda has participated in executive education courses at Harvard Law School. He is currently the managing director of KRyS Global, a leading international fraud investigation, asset recover, and insolvency firm. In addition, he is the president and founder of Mount Vernon Capital Advisors, LLC, a firm that specializes in providing outsourced restructuring expertise to clients.

Leda’s presentation for the class, titled “Seminar in Finance: Bankruptcy,” gave a comprehensive overview of key factors in the bankruptcy process. Covering both Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy, Leda led the discussion around leading indicators of financial distress. Students were then given the opportunity to analyze, present, and negotiate an example bankruptcy case from a local firm. By reviewing the financial history and performance ratios, the goal of this exercise was to familiarize students with the valuation and negotiation process. Students learned how unsecured bond holders and subordinated debt holders will value a company differently based on motivating factors.

Seth Thomas, a junior finance and accounting student, said, “Mr. Leda explained both the broad concept and nuances of Chapter 7 and Chapter 11 bankruptcy, asset recovery, and the legal process. His presentation was extremely informative. I always learn something new when Mr. Leda visits campus.”

Leda has been returning to IUP for many years, providing students with insight on real-world experience in his industry. Several Eberly students have even received internships with KRyS Global due to their connection with Leda in IUP classrooms. Leda said, “You [students] are asking all the right questions, and this is one of the biggest reasons why I keep coming back to speak.”
