IUP alumnus Alex Brown, Sous Chef at Eleven in Pittsburgh, shared
this photo of IUP grads and externs who work on the culinary team. Eleven is big
Burrito Restaurant Group’s flagship restaurant and was selected by Pittsburgh
Magazine as one of Pittsburgh’s Best Restaurants for 2019.
Here’s a little more info about our IUP culinarians:
Alex completed his externship at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort
in Farmington, Pennsylvania and graduated in 2010 from Culinary Arts at IUP. He is an
alumnus of Bedford High School and Bedford County Technical Center.
Bethany Rubaker, Pastry Cook at Eleven, completed her
externship at Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and graduated from Culinary Arts
and Baking and Pastry Arts in 2017. She is an alumna of Baldwin High School and
Steel Center for Career and Technical Education in Allegheny County,
Kaley Hipkiss, Line Cook at Eleven, competed her externship
at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida. She is a 2016 graduate of Culinary Arts and an alumna of Carrick
High School in Pittsburgh.
Zaaron Livingston is competing his externship for IUP’s Culinary
Arts program. He is an alumnus of Aliquippa Senior High School in Beaver County.
Stephanie Forcey is also competing her externship for the
Culinary Arts program. She is an alumna of Philipsburg-Osceola Area Senior High
School in Centre County.
The Academy of Culinary Arts at IUP offers certificate and
associate programs in Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry Arts with the option
to apply credits towards a bachelor’s degree. Academy alumni are finding success close to home and across the nation.
