Mimi Benjamin, associate professor in the Student Affairs in
Higher Education Department, along with Michelle Boettcher (Clemson University)
and Dena Kniess (University of West Georgia), co-authored “From Collaborative to
Collegial Communities: Transitioning from Student Affairs Practitioner to
Faculty,” published in the Georgia Journal of College Student Affairs.
Their qualitative study explored former student affairs professionals who
transitioned to faculty roles and how their experiences of community changed
from one focused on collaboration in student affairs to a work culture as
faculty that was focused on collegiality.
The Georgia Journal of College Student Affairs is an
open, double-blind, peer reviewed journal published twice per year by the
Georgia College Personnel Association. The journal seeks to provide a medium
for student affairs professionals and faculty to share their research and
practices of working in higher education.
