Networking is an important
career and professional skill, but how exactly do you do it effectively? Join
Career and Professional Development Center on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. in the Elkin Hall Great Room for their upcoming program “Mixing and Mingling: Why
Networking is Important and How to Do It,” presented by Kelsey Thompson.
Following the event, there will
be a networking reception with employees from Clark Associates, the employer
sponsor for this program. This event is
part of the CPDC’s Career Ready Seminar Series, which aims to provide targeted
events to help IUP students gain and understand the necessary skills and competencies
to be successful in life after graduation.
Students who attend will not only
learn why they should be networking as a current student and as a professional,
but they will also leave with tangible tips and tricks on how to do it the
right way. Kelsey Thompson, the
evening’s presenter, is excited to talk with students about this topic.
“Networking can be scary and intimidating but
it really is a big part of a student’s long-term career and professional
success,” said Thompson. “I am looking forward to talking
to them through the benefits of having strong networking skills and breaking
down any myths and misconceptions they might have about it, so that they can be
master networkers themselves and use it to their advantage as they prepare to
entire into the professional world.”
