Elise Glenn, chief Diversity and Inclusion officer/Title IX coordinator, recently represented IUP at a “Regional Discussion on Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment at America’s Colleges, Universities and Service Academies.” This event was jointly presented
by the State University of New York and the United States Navy on September 5, 2019, in New York City.
Elise Glenn with Richard Spencer, secretary of the United States Navy
The conference’s subtitle was “Achieving Cultural Change through Data and an Evaluation Mindset: Better People, Better Leaders, Better Nation.”
In addition to multiple informative breakout sessions, the day included a Leadership Forum, moderated by Kristina Johnson, SUNY chancellor, in which a distinguished panel of engaged military leaders shared their experiences in preventing sexual assault
and sexual harassment, as well as their views on data-driven decision making and the importance of measuring the effectiveness of prevention systems.
A second leadership panel presented on “Legal and Policy Perspectives,” a discussion on legal compliance. This panel was comprised of leaders in the legal and academic communities who shared their views on shaping a culture of respect, transparency, and
safety for all.
Glenn had the opportunity to speak with several panelists and attendees, and to learn about valuable resources and potential guest speakers for the IUP community.
