IUP Little Big BandThe University Museum at Indiana University of Pennsylvania will host its annual gala on Saturday, October 19, 2019, from 6:00 to 10 :00 p.m. in John Sutton Hall. The theme for this gala is the 1970s and invokes the height of disco fever.

Bring some guests and celebrate the 1970s when Disco was king and Donna Summer was queen. Guests are encouraged to come in creative costumes that reflect the times. Find some platform shoes to go with those leisure suits and polyester gowns so you can wine, dine, and dance the night away.

The gala evening will start at 6:00 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the University Museum, where guests can enjoy the IUP Artists’ Legacy Exhibit. This exhibit features works by IUP Department of Art and Design alumni from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s who have been successful in varied media, from painting and photography, to sculpture and drafting.

Following the Museum reception, guests will move to the Blue Room to enjoy dinner stations featuring Cajun turkey, Argentinian stuffed flank steak, and macaroni and cheese with vegetarian sides. Following the feast, Disco Inferno continues with a live band and a dance performance by the IUP Dance Theater. All this, plus both silent and live auctions of irresistible and groovy items, including a photo session with photographer Jonathan Blanchard at Sparks Ignite, artwork by local artists, a buttery decadent 10-layer Smith Island Cake delivered to your door, a basket of sweet and savory foods from Dan Smith’s Candy Company, a dinner for six with the President and First Lady of IUP, and much more. You can linger and boogie the night away to the music of IUP’s Little Big Band.

IUP Dance TheaterThe University Museum brings the material history and arts of the region together in an environment that encourages exploration, dialogue, and enjoyment. The University Museum never charges admission to its exhibits and educational events, and survives solely on gifts and grants, plus proceeds from the annual gala. Gala funds provide needed support for the Museum’s ongoing art restoration projects, community outreach efforts, and educational directives.

Reservations are required for this memorable evening. Reservations are $130 per person and can be made online by October 11, 2019. The invitation and reservation card are also available online at the University Museum website and on the Museum’s Facebook page, University Museum at IUP.
