The Co-op Store will host an author signing for John R. Hranitz on Saturday, September 21, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. as part of Family Weekend. The store will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and will have Sunday hours from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to accommodate families visiting campus to take part in the festivities.
The former native of Indiana County recently
published his sixteenth book, Albert: The Cold Case of the Bodies at the Farm. The book details the life of a small city
detective as he works to uncover why dozens of bodies were buried on a farm in
Northeastern Pennsylvania. Copies of all of Hranitz’s titles are available at the Co-op Store, with all proceeds going to support
the Dr. John R. and Dolores (Popp) Hranitz Scholarship for Education and
Nursing students enrolled at IUP.
John Hranitz was the first to receive all
three of his degrees (BS in education, 1963; MEd in education, 1970; and EdD in education, 1973) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His wife, Dolores Hranitz, was a graduate of the
Indiana School of Nursing. She received
her BS in nursing and MS in early childhood education degrees from Bloomsburg
University of Pennsylvania. She received her
American Montessori Certification as a directress from Arcadia College.
Both John and Dolores were graduates of
the Homer-Center School District, formerly named Laura Lamar School District.
Presently, John resides in Bloomsburg,
