Chauna Craig, English Department, was a writer in residence this summer (May 27–June 7, 2019) at PLAYA Art and Science Residency Program in Summer Lake, Oregon.
PLAYA provides space and solitude through a competitive application process for selected writers, visual artists, and scientists to work on projects connected to environmental issues. Their mission states, “PLAYA nurtures innovative thinking in the arts
and sciences through its residency program on the edge of the Great Basin, to promote dialogue and positive change in the environment and the world.”
Craig used the time to work on her nonfiction book connecting themes of climate change and personal
change located around her family cabin on the Smith River in Montana.
