IUP piano professor Henry Wong
Doe co-chaired the annual state conference of the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association, held at Bloomsburg University, June 14–16, 2019.
This year’s conference theme was “World Music: a celebration of international music and musicians.”
Wong Doe, with the assistance of Edward Kuhn (Seton Hill University) and Charisse Baldoria (Bloomsburg University), invited guest artists William Chapman Nyaho (pictured with Wong Doe), Brent Talbot (Gettysburg College), and J. Bryan Burton (West Chester
University), as well as other clinicians to the weekend event.
The sessions’ topics ranged from exploring piano works of composers of African descent, and those inspired by Gamelan, to a keynote speech that touched on important issues of diversity and inclusivity.
The event was well attended by music teachers and collegiate students from Pennsylvania and neighboring states.
