Are you a middle school student who wants to explore interesting mathematical topics? Do you want to see how fascinating mathematics can be outside of the usual school work? The Serafini Middle School Math Camp at IUP is for you!

The IUP Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences will offer the inaugural Serafini Middle School Math Camp from July 15 to 19 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. The camp will be held in Stright Hall, room 301 on the IUP campus.

While at the camp, campers will actively explore mathematics. We will do activities that explore:

  • mathematical card tricks
  • games and puzzles
  • 3D printing and design
  • connections between mathematics and art
  • virtual reality headsets

and many more hands-on explorations.

The camp is open to any student entering sixth- through eighth-grade mathematics during the 2019–20 school year. The cost of the camp is $75, but financial assistance may be available for campers who need it. Please contact Rachelle Bouchat at for more information about the camp.

To apply, please complete the online application before July 14. Applications will be reviewed as they come in, until the places in the camp are filled, so apply now.

More details about the camp will be provided after campers have been accepted.
