Johnstown’s first woman police chief, former mayor Linda Weaver dies

“Linda Weaver, who became Pennsylvania’s first-ever female police chief when she was tapped to head the Johnstown Police Department in 1986 and later served a term as the city’s mayor, died on Wednesday at the age of 72. She then studied criminology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was hired into the police department in 1972, becoming the city’s first female police officer in 50 years.”
