“Allegheny County Chief Public Defender Elliot Howsie, whose seven-year tenure has been marked by success and controversy, is poised to be the county’s next Common Pleas Court judge after he was nominated late last month to fill a vacancy on the bench. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, earned his bachelor's and master's degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and his law degree from Duquesne University, where he continues to teach as an adjunct professor.”
