The GLBT Commission and LGBTQIA Support Office are pleased to host a history exhibit inside Stabley Library through May 6, 2019. “The Long Road to LGBTQ+ Equality” depicts the stories of Central Pennsylvania LGBTQ+ community members through their oral histories and material culture. A reception will be held on Wednesday, April 24, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
The exhibit is presented by the LGBT Center Central PA History Project, which promotes the materials as “discovering stories of extraordinary lives.” The project began in 2012 and has seen a rapid growth in activity and interest. A partnership has now been developed with the Dickinson College Archives and Special Collections to serve as the repository of the collection of oral history interviews, archival documents, and artifacts. In 2014, the project won the prestigious J. Franklin Jameson Archival Advocacy Award from the Society of American Archivists.
The April 24 reception is free and open to the entire IUP community. For further information, please contact Tedd Cogar at firstname.lastname@example.org.
