Nine students from Raquel Winnica Young’s voice studio decided to fulfilled a dream of traveling to New York City to get enlightened by cultural activities over the weekend of April 13–14, 2019.

The trip, which was organized by Professor Winnica Young, enabled the students to go to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, see the new production of La Traviata, and witness the incredible singing of the legendary tenor, Placido Domingo.

They also were able to observe a master class at Carnegie Hall conducted by mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, who actually spent some time with them talking about how important it is the career they chose as music educators and performers and how much they can do as cultural ambassadors.

Special thanks to the IUP Department of Music chair, Stephanie Caulder, for her support of these students and this endeavor. Congratulations to the students on taking this initiative!
