John Mueller, professor in the Department of Student Affairs in Higher Education, spoke at the annual Academic Festival at Teachers College, Columbia University on April 13, 2019.
Academic Festival is Teacher College’s signature homecoming event which brings together faculty, alumni, and students to celebrate and share the latest scholarship on today’s trending educational topics.
Mueller joined a panel of Teachers College alumni and faculty to discuss the career and impact of professor emeritus Lee Knefelkamp who died in September, 2018. Knefelkamp was a pioneer in college student development theory and practice. Dr. Raechele Pope (IUP ’79 & ’81), of the University at Buffalo, was a colleague of professor Knefelkamp’s at Teachers College and also served on the panel.
Mueller, a 1999 graduate of Teachers College, is completing a monograph to re-introduce one of Knefelkamp’s most influential contributions to the student affairs profession: the Practice-to-Theory-to-Practice process model.
