On March 9, 2019, Lama Alharbi, PhD candidate in the Composition and Applied Linguistics program, presented “The Politics of Linguistic Tolerance and Language- Laboring in Writing Center Talk” at the American Association For Applied Linguistics convention in Atlanta, Georgia.

Because writing center talk has been largely understudied in writing center scholarships and language socialization literature, Alharbi addresses this gap in scholarship, by employing a language ideology lens with language socialization ones to further explore the language-laboring processes that occur between six multilingual tutors and tutees.
