Deric Schmidt '16 Guest Speaker On His IUP Experiences

Deric Schmidt '16 spoke to members of the Association of Management Information Systems about his IUP experiences and how those experiences helped his life after college. Schmidt graduated from IUP on December 17, 2016 with a major in Management Information Systems and a double minor in Computer Science and Information Assurance.  

Deric Schmidt '16, AMIS Guest SpeakerDuring his time at IUP, Deric was a member of the Eberly Business Honors program and the Robert E. Cook Honors College, Vice President and first ever two-term President of the Association for Management Information Systems, Fundraising Chair and Vice President of Phi Gamma Nu - Professional Business Fraternity, and Vice President and Founding Father of Phi Sigma Kappa - Social Fraternity.

Further, he was a student worker at the IT Helpdesk in Stapleton Library, a voting member of College of Business Student Advisor Council and Interfraternity Council, and participated in two internships (Highmark and PNC) and one fellowship (Summer IT Lab, Heinz College - Carnegie Mellon University).

After graduation, Deric started at PNC Financial Services Group through their Technology Development Program and at the end of that program was offered a full time position as a Project Manager in the Retail - ATM domain.
