Shelly Bouchat of the Department of Mathematical and Computer Sciences and her co-author, Trisha Brown (Georgia Southern University), had their paper, “Fibonacci numbers and resolutions of domino ideals,” accepted for publication in the Journal of Algebra Combinatorics Discrete Structures and Applications. The journal had an acceptance rate of 33 percent in 2018.

This article studies a class of monomial ideals, an algebraic structure, that are associated to domino tilings, a combinatorial idea. The work on monomial ideals done in this paper is solely theoretical in nature. However, monomial ideals are used in many applications, including reverse engineering biological networks.
