Middle-level education. Political science. Finance. Music
education and music performance. Environmental engineering. Nursing. The
students pictured above are mastering their skills in these respective
disciplines. They’ll go on to use what they’ve learned here to touch lives and
change our world. They come from a variety of majors, but they have something
in common—they each have been recognized for their potential and hard work
through the Dean’s Merit Scholarships.
“As a member of the university family, you can make
scholarships like these possible,” said Stephanie Sell, interim director of
Annual Giving. “When you lend your financial support, you help provide students with the resources they need, which
gives them the time to fully immerse themselves in their studies and the
opportunities on campus. With your help, they will graduate well-prepared and
well-rounded.”
She explained that the impact of IUP employee philanthropy
is far-reaching.
“Your gifts humble and motivate our students,” she said. “When
they are awarded scholarships, they push harder to excel. Your participation also
helps us to send a message to alumni, corporations, foundations, and those in
Harrisburg that we are a strong and vibrant institution worthy of their
investment.”
Participating in the drive is easy, and some of the programs
offer the incentive of matching funds. Employees can download a pledge form or
pledge their support electronically on the University Family Drive website.
For more information on how
to give to a specific fund or program area, employees can contact the Office of Annual Giving at iup-giving@iup.edu
or 724-357-5555, or check out the Find a Fund
tool.
The drive, operated by
the Office of Annual Giving, runs through March 29, 2019. All those who give
will be invited to a Victory Reception hosted by IUP President Michael Driscoll
on April 8.
