Zachary Neil, residence director of Wallwork Hall, published his article “Learning: The Secret Ingredient of One-On-Ones” in the latest edition of MACUHO Magazine.

The article, which can be found on the back cover of the magazine, provides readers with tips on how to get the most out of individual meetings and, particularly, what can be learned from the experience as a whole.

Neil writes:

Frankly, I disagree with the idea that these individual meetings are called “one-on-ones.” If there is supposed to be some type of learning involved in these experiences, then I reject the hegemony this name suggests. Pick a new name for them. For you, what could you call these experiences where you are reminded to learn?

To summarize the article, Neil pushes that individual meetings with students should be a mutual learning and to continuously think through the intentionality behind these meetings.
