The Eberly College of Business and Information Technology’s Center for Leadership and Academic Student Success (CLASS) focused its early spring semester efforts on assisting students to improve their academic performance. The performance improvement model is peer-based and partners with the
additional services and resources of the Academic Success Center.
Graduate assistant and MBA candidate Mitchell O’Shell leads the Eberly program. “I really enjoy working with students who are experiencing challenges familiar to me,” states O’Shell. “It is very rewarding to help students overcome adversity—both academic
and personal—by employing the resources and opportunities afforded them by IUP and Eberly College.”
Each participating student meets with O’Shell early in the semester to develop a personalized academic success plan. One-on-one meetings continue throughout the semester to ensure goals are being met, and alternative or additional considerations are implemented.
A strong success rate is evidenced for those students who actively participate and invest in the program’s direction and resources.
Any Eberly College business major is eligible to participate in the CLASS Academic Success Program. For more information, contact Eberly-CLASS@iup.edu.
