The IUP Music Department will be offering a new course in spring 2019 (the course is so new that it didn't make it onto the spring schedule). On Thursday afternoons from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m., the department is offering a World Drumming course.
Throughout the semester, we'll be playing drum music from a variety of locations and cultures. Along the way, you can expect to gain some relevant cultural information, but this class is a hands-on-make-some-music kind of experience that will give each of you the opportunity to get in touch with your "inner drummer." It's not necessary to read music. The course isn't designed for music majors (though they are certainly welcome). You don't have to own a drum—we have those! We're looking for people who are seeking a creative outlet that will give them a chance to learn about different cultures by making some music from those cultures.
The course number is MUSC 281 section 002. The CRN number is 23345. If this sounds like an experience you would enjoy (and/or you know someone who might), please add this to your Spring schedule and bring your friends! If you have any questions, email Professor Horner in the Music Department at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We hope to see you in just a few weeks in World Drumming.
