Theft tends to rise in the months of November and December, so please be sure to secure everything: vehicles, homes, and offices.

The Grinch: It was the heist before ChristmasThese tips can help you protect your home during the Holiday Season from a Grinch (aka burglars).

With more people doing online shopping and having items shipped to their home, there has been an increase of packages being stolen from porches. If you are expecting packages, request signature confirmation or have a trusted neighbor hold on to it for you.

If you are traveling for the holidays, request the Post Office to place a hold on your mail. Accumulating stacks of mail or piles of unretrieved newspapers make your home more vulnerable to break-ins.

Set lights on timers, both inside and outside. This will make it look like someone is at home and can deter a burglar.

Do not post travel plans on social media. You are giving potential burglars a huge opportunity to know when you are gone.

Always make sure that doors and windows are secured, and any home alarm systems are set.
